This semester has not gone our way to say the least but we made the best of it. We added a new ergatta this year which was our first competition, which took place in Long Lake, MN at the Winter Wolf Howl Ergatta back in January. We brought home hardware in several categories and had some new PR’s take place on the team. This was great for the team since it was our first time doing this ergatta. We plan to be going back!
Spring Break
As usual we head down to Topeka, KS to row with Top Row. We were coached by Don Craig with getting help from Chris Anderson. As a team, we would like to thank everyone that helped us out on Spring Break. As usual we had two practices a day and went on nature walks. This year on Friday of Spring Break we got to go to Kansas University to have a little competition on the Kansas River. After a long scrimmage with KU we headed to the YMCA for one last time. Stories and memories were told at Coyote Canyon as we stuffed our stomachs. Spring Break this year will be remember for a long time.
Power Pull:
On March 23rd, we headed to Power Pull in Rochester, MN from Kailey's House, where her family was willing to let us stay and feed us. We are truly grateful of the Ganskop's for helping the team out! Thanks! The day started off slow as the high school rowers were competing first. Once our time came, we pulled hard and strong the whole 2k, with this determination people broke their own 2k times and some had personal best for the season. Almost everyone left with some hardware.
Here is our ladies showing off there medals. In the Novice Women's 2k: Haley Bagley took gold, Kailey Ganskop took Silver, and Susan Holker took Bronze. In the Experience Women's 2k: Jordan Ehlers took Gold and CJ Gallman took Silver.
We didn't get a picture of just the guys but in the Novice Men's 2k: Justin Gaytan took Gold and Jonathon Danielson took Silver. The Experience Men 2k Michael Wubbels took Gold.
To the right, is a team photo of everyone that made the trip to Rochester. Front Row: Megan Jones, Kailey Ganskop Second Row: Haley Bagley, Susan Holker, Jordan Ehlers, CJ Gallman, Michael Hansen Back Row: Jonathan Danielson, Michael Wubbels, Justin Gaytan
Million Meter Challenge
It a long tough journey but once you pull those last few pulls you know that all the pain and sweat was worth it. This year we had two Novice Justin Gaytan and Haley Bagley and along with Jordan Ehlers finish the Million.
Tanks at the U of M
Since the weather didn't work out with us to travel or to host Husky Sprints this year. We met up with Macalester Rowing Team to take advantage of the Tanks at the University of Minnesota. Where we got time in the tank and some water time. We got some great pointers from there coaches to help us out.
